About photography

如果我想用一句话来表达我的想法，这句话通常是英文。邯郸学步了。


Photography is about making images, not taking pictures.

Don't try to make better photos than others. Don't even try to make different photos than others. Just try to make you own photos. Make sure the photos are all about you. And chances are, you're different. If you've got talent, you maybe better than others. Just don't try.

A good photo is timeless. It's more about the subject. It has its own life.

Using flash is the fastest way to ruin you photo. If you don't know how to using it.

Available light sometimes simple sucks. Don't let that sucking light ruin you photo, just because you love to be an "available light photographer". Only do it because you can't handle flashes. At least you'll be sucking a little less by not using it.

Don't pretend to be a better photographer than you really are. Because you can't.

The first thing to learn in photography is: learn to see. You can never shoot something that you can not see.

If you're using digital, exposure to the right, for god's sake.

Don't be afraid to try different things. Including cameras.

If you're not ready to do the whole thing, don't do it.

Learn to paint. And if you can, learn piano. Don't ask why.

There is no moral photos or immoral photos. Only good and bad photos.

Photos are as revealing as they are deceiving. What you see is probably not the truth.

So shoot what you feel. Don't shoot what you see. In fact, shoot what you both feel and see.

Photography is not everything. Art is everything.

Who's gonna give a damn about what's going on now? I think it's better for the next generations to not know it. They've known enough.
